Yay!! I’ve lost 25.6 pounds total so far with 54.4 pounds to go to reach my goal!  My BMI has dropped from 36.9 to 33.1 and my goal is 24.9.

Ayurvedic Remedies

Ayurvedic medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine in the world.

It combines tools like diet, exercise, breathing exercises, meditation (yoga), mental visualization, therapeutic massage, and herbs to treat illness and maintain health.

This ancient healing method also uses color therapy, sound therapy, and aromatherapy to help create balance within your body.

In Ayurveda, the main healing philosophy is the idea of the 3 doshas, or basic types of energy.

These are vata (from ether and air), pitta (from fire and water), and kapha (from water and earth), and according to the principles of Ayurveda, they’re present in everyone and everything.

Vata is the energy of movement.

Pitta is the energy of digestion or metabolism.

Kapha is the energy of lubrication and structure.

All 3 doshas are present in everyone, but one is usually predominant.

Ayurvedic medicine sees disease as a result of excess or deficiency in vata, pitta, or kapha, and also the presence of toxins.

Good health means a balance of these 3 energies in a body relatively free of toxins.

Herbs are used to treat illness by restoring this balance.

Herbs dealing with energy or movement are used to increase vata.

Herbs treating digestion, assimilation, absorption, and metabolism are pitta, and those involved with structure and the musculoskeletal system – the “glue” holding your body together – are kapha.

Ayurvedic medicine sees the human body as a manifestation of cosmic energy transferred to all mental and physical levels.

This can be difficult for people from Western cultures to understand, but practitioners believe the 2 systems of energy are closer than we can imagine.

At Ayurveda’s core is the belief we’re a totality of body and soul within the universe, and if we can live in harmony with nature and our inner beings, we’ll stay healthy.
