Color My Juice

Another great tip for new juicers is to be colorful in your choices.

Don’t stick with one fruit or vegetable color.

Make sure you vary the color mix throughout the day.

The colors of fruits and vegetables give you clues about their nutritional value.

Red/Orange

These fruits and veggies are generally high in vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, and antioxidants.

Think tomatoes and strawberries.

Yellow/Orange

Loaded with vitamin C, vitamin A, and potassium, these fruits/veggies can boost your immune system and improve vision.

Think carrots, peaches, and pineapples.

White/Yellow

Good for the heart, these veggies and fruits also help control cholesterol.

Think bananas, mushrooms, and onions.

Green

Dark greens pack a power punch of potassium and vitamin K.

They help strengthen bones and teeth, improve vision, and contain fiber.

Think kale, spinach, and bok choy.

Blue/Purple

These dark dynamos boost urinary tract health and memory function, slow aging, and taste great.

Think cranberries, blueberries, eggplant, and purple grapes, as well as our favorite – the beet.

A juice fast is an amazing way to get in touch with your body, but you can’t live on juice alone.

Many people go through the Alpha Reset, which is a 5-day fast.

As you come off a juice fast, you’ll have to reintroduce your body to eating.

Start simple with things like brown rice or quinoa, easy-to-digest vegetables and fruits and lots of water.

In a few days, your body will be more than ready to resume the nutritional routine you’ve come to love, but there’s a lot to be learned from juicing.

Write it down!

It’s a great idea to keep a special juicing journal during your juice fasts.

You may want to re-read it before each fast.

It’ll give you a great overview of your journey and help you hear what your body is trying to say.

Take special note of how you feel when and after you juice.

Don’t stop juicing!

It’s a good idea to juice fast seasonally.

Not only is this a great way to tune yourself to the changes of the year, but at the beginning of each season, you’ll be able to find the most delicious fruits and vegetables at your local farmer’s market.

You might even want to consider signing up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) or at least subscribe to their emails or like their Facebook page so you can check out seasonal recipes.

You often find some great juicing ideas there.

You might even want to share a few recipes of your own.

And even after your juice fast is over, you can still enjoy the amazing recipes you’ve found and develop a few new ones.

Juices mix perfectly into your everyday nutritional routine.

People have been distilling fruits and vegetables down to their essential minerals and nutrients for years, and there’s a reason why – they’re delicious!
