Natural Weight Loss
For the last several posts we’ve talked about silent inflammation and how it impacts chronic disease.
Silent inflammation, however, is still inflammation.
It’s just below the perception of pain.
What about when inflammation becomes severe enough to pass the pain threshold?
It’s at this point you have screaming pain, the kind of classic inflammation physicians have battled for more than 2,000 years.
Screaming pain caused by inflammation can include many different medical conditions.
In general, if a condition ends with “itis” it simply means inflammation is involved.
Here are a few examples: Arthritis (inflammation of joints), encephalitis (inflammation of brain), pancreatitis (inflammation of pancreas), hepatitis (inflammation of liver), meningitis (inflammation of brain), bronchitis (inflammation of lungs), colitis (inflammation of colon), and gastritis (inflammation of stomach).
There are, however, many other inflammatory conditions causing screaming pain, including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, Crohn’s disease, and end-stage cancer.
Of course, those diseases caused by silent inflammation (heart disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, cancer, etc.) we’ve already discussed can all develop into screaming pain if they cause enough organ damage.
At this point the damage caused by silent inflammation now causes pain and finally has your attention.
As you now know, the underlying cause of pain is ultimately an overproduction of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids.
So, it’s reasonable to think reaching the Anti-Inflammation Zone should be your first choice against chronic screaming pain.
And this means finding the optimal dose of high-dose fish oil.
You might think our continued promoting of high-dose fish oil as a universal medical treatment sounds suspiciously like the snake-oil salesmen of the turn of the 20th century.
But once you understand almost every chronic disease, including screaming pain, is caused by an overproduction of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids, you’ll realize the universal need for high-dose fish oil makes perfect sense.
One of the major challenges in treating pain through the centuries is there’s been no way to measure its severity.
Doctors rely only on their patients’ reporting of symptoms.
Without any clinical way to measure a treatment’s effectiveness, pain management often borders on voodoo.
Now the silent inflammation profile gives us the underlying cause of pain – overproduction of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids.
If your silent inflammation profile isn’t being reduced by your doctor’s anti-inflammatory pain treatments, it means you’re simply treating the symptoms of screaming pain, not the cause.
As a result, you’ll probably wind up with screaming pain as a chronic companion, and you’ll have to live with using ever more costly anti-inflammatory drugs with their associated side effects.
What’s Wrong With Snake Oil Anyway?
The original snake oil was actually grounded in sound science.
Derived from sea snakes, this medicinal oil was brought to America by Chinese immigrants in the late 19th century.
Sea snakes feed exclusively on fish.
As a result, the oil extracted from these sea snakes was very rich in EPA and DHA.
In fact, authentic sea snake oil contains a higher concentration of EPA and DHA than cod liver oil does.
Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, sea snake oil may have been among the best “drugs” of its time.
Its negative reputation came about when the public was sold tainted products containing no EPA or DHA but tasting just as bad.
Ultra-refined EPA/DHA concentrates should be considered the 21st-century version of authentic sea snake oil.
