Your Prescription For Screaming Pain
Screaming pain demands immediate attention, and you need a 2-fold approach.
First, use an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drug like aspirin or NSAIDs to get the fastest possible action.
They do work; it’s using them long-term that causes all the problems.
But the second approach is much more important: start moving yourself aggressively toward the Anti-Inflammation Zone.
We’d suggest starting with a daily dose of about 7.5 grams per day of EPA and DHA (this is equivalent to 1 tablespoon of an ultra-refined EPA/DHA concentrate) to reduce the levels of AA in your membranes.
Although it would be ideal get your silent inflammation profile at this time, you want to treat the pain.
Even at this dosage of fish oil it’ll take about 30 days to see a reduction in levels of arachidonic acid (AA).
After 30 days, gradually reduce your dose of the anti-inflammatory drug while keeping the same same of fish oil.
Then after another 2 weeks, start reducing your dosage of fish oil until the pain returns.
In an ideal world, the fish oil alone should be able to handle the pain, but in the real world you may need a combination of a low-dose anti-inflammatory drug with high-dose fish oil to do the job.
You should consider taking your silent inflammation profile every 6 months to make sure you’re taking the right amount of fish oil to keep AA levels under control.
In summary, chronic pain is disabling and robs life of much of its pleasure.
The root cause is excess AA, which leads to excess the production of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids.
Rather than taking anti-inflammatory drugs on a long-term basis that work by going downstream to try to solve the problem, think about going upstream to attack the root cause (excess AA).
